It depends on what is inside. Scanned documents and PDFs full of photos usually shrink by 50-90% with Recommended compression, because images make up most of their size. PDFs that are mostly text are already small and typically shrink by 0-20%.
Recommended (about 150 DPI) keeps images sharp on screen and in print and is right for most files. Strong (about 100 DPI) gives the smallest file and is ideal for email attachments and upload limits on job portals or government forms. Lossless never touches image quality and only removes wasted space.
