Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compare two PDF files for differences?

Drop the original PDF on the left and the revised PDF on the right. TinyKit extracts the text from both and highlights every added word in green and every removed word in red. You also get a count of changed words and a list of the pages where changes happen.

Can I compare scanned PDFs or PDFs with images?

Yes. Switch to the Visual view, which renders each page of both PDFs and overlays them pixel by pixel. Content that only exists in the original shows in red and content that only exists in the revised version shows in green, so it catches changed images, signatures, stamps and layout shifts that a text comparison cannot see.

Is this PDF comparison tool free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of comparisons. Each PDF can be up to 100 MB.

Are my documents uploaded to a server?

No. Both PDFs are read and compared inside your browser, so contracts, legal drafts and financial documents never leave your device.

What is the difference between Inline and Side by side?

Inline shows one merged document with deletions struck through in red and insertions in green, which is the quickest way to review edits. Side by side shows the original and the revised text in two columns, which is useful when you want to read each version on its own.

Does it detect formatting changes like bold text or font size?

The text comparison looks at the words themselves, so formatting-only edits do not show up there. The Visual view does catch them, because any change in how a page looks shows up as highlighted pixels.
